Billy came to us from the Palomino Valley Center processing facility for BLM. We occasionally visit the corrals and photograph horses so that people can see exactly what horses are currently available to adopt. One one visit, there was a pen filled with weanlings and yearlings. We stopped to visit the curious youngsters. A tiny will sorrel Colt stood behind the others but was very curious about us. John said "whoever comes here first is coming home". Right then, the little sorrel Colt stepped through the crowd of youngsters and right up to John. We called right then and adopted Billy the Kid. He is from the Eagle HMA like Prim. He really loves John and is just about as bombproof as a horse can get.
Calypso is a three year old from the Fish Creek HMA here in Nevada. She is a mustang that we didn't intend on bringing home, but she kind of insisted. While on one of our visits to the Palomino Valley Center preperation facility, she was standing near the fence line. I walked over and unlike the others and running off, she stayed and stuck her tongue through the fence. She followed me down the fence line asking for scratches and attention. So I went in to the office and adopted her. She has been the absolute silliest of horses! Almost always sticking her tongue out when she sees a camera.
MagPie is a 9 year old mustang mare that was rounded up from the Jackson Mountain HMA here in Nevada when she was about 8 years old. We spotted her at the Palomino Valley Preparation Facility. She had multiple open and draining abscesses from pigeon fever. The facility was wonderful and allowed us to adopt her and kept her in quarantine for three months, getting her treatment from their veterinarian. She was finally cleared to come to BlueFeather. She is extremely cautious but not the least bit aggressive. She's been with us for a year and a half now. It has taken alot of patience but I can now occasionally groom her and have her relax. We've allowed her to be a horse rather than flood her emotionally and mentally. She's a tough cookie to crack but in time she will come around.
Nahara is a 30 year old BLM mustang mare that came to us from our friends at RockinKT Equine Redemption. Nahara was found at a local auction and saved by KT. We just know that Nahara was used as a broodmares most of her life and when her owner was done, just tossed her to the auction. We are so happy that KT stepped in and saved her and now we get to enjoy her beauty and grace.
Nahara was laid to rest due to advancing arthritis
Django is a 30+ year old guy that is the sweetest soul ever. He is another auction save from our friends at RockinKT Equine Redemption that was transferred to us at BlueFeather. Django has no teeth so eats a diet of StableMix Senior. He is a total love bug!
Django crossed Rainbow Bridge on his terms. He simply laid down to sleep and crossed on his own.
Eddie and Furiosa are both 20+ year old Thoroughbreds that came to us from their owner. She was having to move and make changes to better her health and wanted a safe place for her beloved Eddie and Furiosa. They will both retire with us and live out their Golden years
Shelby is a total diamond of a 20 year old ex reining horse. She is a complete sweetheart! Affectionately known as the Chia Pet. Shelby has Cushings Disease so gets Pergolide daily and a low sugar diet. This gal came to us from a wonderful owner that wanted a place for Shelby to relax and kick up her heels. She is just the cutest little gal!
