Chinook is a 19 year old Peruvian Stallion. Chinooks original breeder and loving owner unfortunately passed away, leaving several very loved horses in the care of his family. The family needed to find homes for the horses. The family was amazing and sought out the best if homes for the horses. Chinook ended up sold to a gentleman who placed him in the care of a well known Peruvian trainer. It is here where Chinook was neglected and abused. Chinook is a Reserve Champion but that didn't matter to this man, honestly I don't think any life mattered to this person. Chinook was not fed, was "danced" and who knows what else.
When the family found out what was going on they reached out to us. We already had HLC Macario from the same estate. The "trainer" claimed that Chinook was off his feed and suffered from DSLD (degenerative suspensory ligament disease).
Chinook arrived at BlueFeather and was promptly seen by a veterinarian. He was emaciated and found to have chronic desmitis most likely to being worked hard and "danced" while malnourished.
The first week Chinook was with us he ate and ate and ate. He regained his weight and strength steadily.
Chinook absolutely loves John and enjoys his walks through the beautiful desert landscape. He is absolutely the kindest horse, despite everything he had gone through.
Chinook was given the last act of kindness due to chronic desmitis and the pain associated with his condition
Macario came to us from Hacienda la Cumbre in Santa Ynez Can. The same ranch Chinook came from. Macario came to us before Chinook when his owner passed away. Mac is a Peruvian Paso gelding. He is very skiddish, which is why we chose to bring him to BlueFeather, knowing it could be difficult to place him due to his quirky and skiddish personality.
Macario crossed Rainbow Bridge after an episode of choke, he was doing great on soaked feed for many months after (as a prevention). But ended up suffering a severe bout of colic.
Ruby is an older gal with Cushings disease that came to BlueFeather from a wonderful owner that wanted her to retire and just be happy living her life. Ruby has arthritis in both knees and is on Prascend and Equioxx. She is absolutely the sweetest gal! And we love her So much!!!
Ruby crossed Rinbow Bridge due to arthitis in both front knees and her spine
Jake is a senior guy with Cushings disease. He came with Ruby from wonderful owners that just wanted him to retire in peace and quiet. Jake is a total sweetheart and a love bug!
Jake crossed Rainbow Bridge on his terms, simply laying down and crossing over himself
Mabel is a 20year old Quarter Horse from a local cattle rancher. Mabel developed arthritis and Cushings and just could no longer keep up with rounding up cattle on the range. We are so very Thankful that the ranch chose to contact BlueFeather about this diamond of a horse. Mabel is absolutely one of the kindest and most honest horses around. Welcome to the family Mabel!
Mabel was laid to rest due to Cushings, laminitis and arthritis that was not able to be controlled or keep her comfortable.
Buttercup is a 16 year old mustang that came to us from our farrier. He noticed her owner was having to reschedule trims and the horses started losing weight. It was apparent to him that the owner was struggling to care for her horses, she was a senior herself. He spoke with her and she agreed to have Buttercup and Geronimo come to BlueFeather 💙 We are very Thankful to both owner and Ron (farrier).
Buttercup is now in the loving care of Nirvana🥰 We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.
Geronimo is a 20+ year old mustang that came to us from our farrier. He noticed hIs owner was having to reschedule trims and the horses started losing weight. It was apparent to him that the owner was struggling to care for her horses, she was a senior herself. He spoke with her and she agreed to have Geronimo and Buttercup come to BlueFeather 💙 We are very Thankful to both owner and Ron (farrier).
Geronimo is now in the loving care of Nirvana🥰 We are thrilled he landed with them❤️
Serendpity came to us from another rescue organization in Southern Ca. She came to us in extremelly bad shape, requiring a refeeding program. Serendipity was a beautiful Paso Fino mare about 20 years young. She had a heart of Gold and loved to go out on walks, venturing offtrail and exploring. She was with us for six years before passining due to saddle thrombosis.
Serendiity is very much missed but we know she flies free.

Nizhoni is Navajo for "Beautiful". And that she was! Nizzy was both beautiful inside and out. She came to us on Thanksgiving Day 2015. She was an absolute wreck. It was obvious she had been a tripping horse for charro rodeos. When she stepped off the trailer she looked around and spotted the barn. Thats all she needed to know! She knew she was finally safe and home. She strutted right to a stall and set herself in front of a feeder. She was covered in scars and fresh wounds, but she had such a spark! She was put onto a refeeding program and quickly gained weight and strength. Nizzy passed away in 2020. She had severe arthritis and ligamint desmitis. Once her pain could no longer be controlled we made the heartbreaking choice to release her from pain. She flies free now.

Meet Duke!
Duke is a true gentleman through and through. He was found at the Fallon Auction by his previous owner in 2021 with sutures still in the socket of a recent eye removal surgery. She quickly bid on and won Duke, giving him a wonderful life. Unfortunately his owners life turned upside down and she reached out to us. Of course we said yes to Duke coming to BlueFeather 💙
Little Outlaw (black) and Gypsy (bay) are orphans from the Antelope Complex here in Nevada. This particular roundup resulted in several losses of life, including Gypsy and Outlaws mothers.
We originally spotted them within the interior pens at the Palomino Valley Preparation Facility. We visited every few days, thanks to an Angel Donor these two had their adoption fees covered and they headed to BlueFeather!
Meet Babe and Dave! Thoroughbred mother and son. They lived an absolutely wonderful life with their owner in Southern Nevada. These two have never been apart. When their owner started having difficulties getting out to physically care for her beloved pair, she reached out to us. It can be hard to find placement for two horses so deeply bonded. So we said yes, making sure they never have to be separated.
